In Fonyód, choosing a restaurant in the summer seems easy: you go to the beach, see a sign and then hope that besides the view, the plate will be fine. We'd like to give you a little more help than that. On this page you will find no paid order and not a wall of glory with perfect places, but restaurants that we have our own experience of, local knowledge or verifiable hospitality.
The supply is deliberately mixed. There is also a serious seasonally changing kitchen, modern bistro, old-fashioned Hungarian restaurant, pizzeria, shelter and a waterfront place where the panorama is at least as big as the menu. They're not the same, so it's not worth watching them in a single rank. It takes something else to have an anniversary dinner, a family from the beach, a quick ordinary lunch or a winter night, when all year's opening hours in themselves are a serious argument.
Some of the nearby favorites in this list can be found in Balatonpines or Balatonelles. We are not trying to sell these to Fonyód: they come here because during a holiday they are realistic, short detours and often it is worth travelling for ten to twenty minutes because of such a dinner.
Each restaurant is on its own form with a longer opinion, address, route planning and practical information we know. However, the opening hours, weekly rest days and seasonal menu can change quickly, so always check out the new registration or call before leaving. Summer Friday and Saturday nights in the right places for reservation is not excessive caution, but part of dinner.

Not all of them. Lake Balaton hospitality is highly seasonal, so check winter and early spring openings every time from fresh sources.
