Fonyódi Lángos
You don't need long instructions for the flaming one. Be freshly baked, come hot, be slightly crispy on the outside, remain soft inside and do not have to investigate separately after cheese or sour cream. The Fonyód Flame is mostly in place.
It has been here since 2001, so it's way past the time when a Lake Balaton buffet is trying to make a living just from its good location. The locals and the returning holiday homes know exactly what window to line up at if they add a cheese-sour to the pier.
The classic version is a good one. The noodles are light, they're crisp fresh, but they don't become hard, oily crowns in a few minutes. Wheat and cheese are not treated with too much caution, and an extra dose of both may be requested on request. That's the flaming thing you don't have to do with bologna stew, ham or five different cheeses about how the pasta is.
Of course, if you were adventurous, the supply is much bigger than usual. There is a panty-sheepskin, smoked cheese and sour cream and bolognese, making versions filled with ham or sausage and cheese, even sweet ones. And anyone who feels the flame is too much can ask for freshly baked pancakes with classic stuffing.
Flaming baking looks simple, but sensitive seasonal teamwork. In the spring, sometimes you can still feel that pasta, oil and freshly assembled staff are looking for common rhythm. However, as we slide into the summer, science is becoming more and more certain: it will move faster, the baking will be even, and the flavors will touch. By July, the flames are usually as natural as if they've done nothing else all winter.
Of course, there can be a series in the main season. This is partly due to port location, and partly due to knowledge built in more than 20 years. Flaming is always freshly baked, so a few minutes of waiting isn't necessarily a bad sign. But if a boat full of guests arrive at the same time, you can expect the "eat something quickly" program to last a little longer.
According to the official menu, the smooth flame is currently 1300, and the cheese-cream²900 forint. This is not the cheapest flame in Lake Balaton, but it can still be interpreted in the middle of the port with plenty of toppings and freshly baked. You can pay with credit card and all the cards that are common, and you can eat hot fiery on a covered, climatised terrace - which is a surprisingly strong service on a summer day of 35 degrees.
The Fonyód Flame does not want to reinterpret the genre. The best decision remains cheese and sour cream with garlic. Take it to the pier, find a bench, look over Badacsony and try to eat it without getting anything on your shirt. We don't have a safe tip for that.
Place: Fonyód, Vigadó tér 23., at the port line
Summer opening hours: every day 10: 00-22: 00
Let's guess: For the first time ask for classic cheese and sour cream with garlic; leave experimentation to round two.
