Fonyód transport is both very simple and surprisingly fragmented. There are central railway and boat stations, more smaller rail stops, long coastlines, two mountains and a summer day where the car is more of a parking task than a means of transport. The right solution depends on where you live and what you want to do.
The centre, the Panorama beach, the market and port are well connected on foot and by train. Fonyódliget, Belatelep and the mountains ask for a different rhythm. The real local knowledge of the taxi is very important: Ati Taxi and Liget Taxi are local providers who know not only the address but also the city's corners. For wine trips, late arrival or packages, this could be worth more than a few hundred forints.
Car in summer parking is harder for central beaches and the market area. Come early, don't expect there to be room in front of the entrance and check out the payment rules. Always check boat and train schedules on departure day: change of season, track lock and weather can modify the plan. This site collects local service providers and traffic guides, and provides direct routes for specific travel.
