The most powerful catch of the Pearl Fisherman is an undisputed location. You can find it right next to the pier in Fonyód with a large terrace, sailboats, Badacsám and a panorama that can add something memorable to a perfectly ordinary dinner. If you really want to eat at the docks, that's where you get one of the most beautiful views.
The food is fine - we don't want to make it more or less. Homely, easy to understand dishes, fish dishes, Hungarian classics and plenty of food. They also offer a three-course daily menu of various soups, main meals and desserts, which is a particularly useful option in a port restaurant.
If you want a long walk, sail or beach after a normal dose, familiar flavors and while looking at the pier, the Pearl Fishery is an entirely understandable choice. Not every meal has to cause life-long recognitions: sometimes it is enough for you to have a proper dinner in the right place, with good company.
The surprise is on the drink board. More than 150 lots of whiskey is not only extremely strong in the Lake Balaton context - many large-city bars would be happy to accept it. You can choose between Scottish, Irish, American and other items, so it's easy to stay at the table for a while after dinner. Of course, this is only a good program if the driver's question has already been solved.
The other serious virtue of Pearl Fisherman is the entire year's operation. In November, it is much easier to find closed doors than hot food, but there is also a heated interior in winter, fixed menu and à la carte supply. That's why you really get the big high five and the two red dots. In summer, it is easy to run a restaurant on the Pier in Fonyód; a gray January Tuesday is much less.
The huge terrace also absorbs larger companies, but at peak time of course traffic will jump here. When arriving in the car, consider that you can't always stop near the pier: during the season the parking lot of the area is paid and a few minutes are likely to have to walk. From the railway and boat station, however, it is comfortably available. You can pay with a credit card and a FEMI card.
So we do not recommend Pearl Fisherman because this would be the culinary climax of Fonyód. We recommend it because it's in a beautiful place, you can count on it all year long, give you regular doses, and have whiskey lined up on the shelves that suddenly turn out to be quite exciting for an expert. That's more than enough reason to be on our list.

Let's guess: Come in before sunset, book a terrace table and ask for whiskey - that's where the story gets really interesting.
