There's that Lake Balaton coffee, the panorama adds half a point to it. The Villa Café is not worth denying: the main character of this place is the view. From the balcony on the floor and from the spacious rooftop terrace, Badacsony, Siggliget, the mountains of witnesses and the great piece of Lake Balaton can be seen at once. That's why the stop alone is worth putting in.
It's particularly strong around sunset. The colors of the lake are constantly changing, the mountains slowly become silhouette, while a coffee or lemonade arrives. It is difficult to find a better place in Fonyód for a slow, useless watch - it is true that others know this, so the best patio tables will quickly run out at night.
Coffee's pretty good. It is not the typical attraction drink saved exclusively by a panorama. The espresso and the milk drinks are fine, you can find matches, ice coffees, artisanal lemonade, various gin tonic and lighter snacks. Limonade is specifically known as tutto bene. Latte art was not read in books, it is practiced daily and with considerable efforts every day.
The cakes are slightly less memorable than the environment. We wouldn't call them bad, but if we scored the panorama and the cupcake separately, the view would probably win with a rash. However, it is a great advantage that, in addition to traditional sweets, vegan, gluten, lactose and sugar-free options are kept on a regular basis. So in a society, it's not just someone who has no food sensitivity or special diet.
The café operates on the floor of Villa Kripta, and the building itself is as interesting as the terrace. Abrudánai-Rediger Ököd built it in memory of Magdus, his fiancée, who died before their wedding in the early 1940s. On the bottom floor, a bed carved out of red marble shows the lying figure of the couple. The legend of the place is that when a couple holds hands over statues, their love lasts forever. Science hasn't proven it yet, but it's worth a try.
The statue of Molnár Star in the garden is a different story. The young girl, who was chosen to be the beauty queen in 1985, had indeed nothing to do with the original love legend of the villa. The most important thing about Fonyód is that he went to school here and is still a memorable figure in the history of the city. The ceramic breast statue of Tibor Túri Turkish was inaugurated in 2017in the case of the renovated Villa Kripta, and a memorial exhibition of Molnár Star was held on the ground floor of the building. In other words, the statue was not placed to improve the view - it can be discussed aesthetically, but it has an explanation for local memory.
The Villa Café is a seasonal place, so opening up in the spring and fall tends to fool people. Outside the main season, it often only works from Friday to Sunday. In the summer, guests are expected from Monday to Thursday between 9: 00 and 18: 00, from Friday until Sunday between 9: 00 and 21: 00. Before leaving, you should always look at the fresh information, especially if it's because of the cafe.
The terrace can also be visited with a dog, and Crypta Villa is well connected to Szaploncay or a longer mountain walk. You don't necessarily come here for the best cake in town. You're coming to stay away from a good Lavazza Tierra coffee for 20 minutes.

Let's guess: Come in before sunset, and don't sit at the first table - see if there's room on the roof terrace.
