Our opinion

If breakfast is not solved at home, Cool Cafe is one of the most secure choices in Fonyód. You can find it just a few steps from the train station in the centre of town, near the Dísz Square, so it's obvious if you just arrived or have another decent coffee before the train leaves.

It's not a world-changing specialist lab where they explain the place of birth of coffee beans over sea level. It's simply a well-functioning, lovable café where you get creamy, slightly peanut-flavored coffee, which leaves a particularly pleasant taste in your mouth. Just the kind that would make it feel good to start a Balaton day.

The supply goes way beyond coffee and croissant doubles. In addition to classic egg breakfast, omelettes, French toast and sandwiches, more modern brunch dishes such as Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, breakfast burgers, tortillas, salads and cakes appear. Even if all you want is a lemonade or an afternoon cookie. The doses are good, the selection is abundant, and in general every member of the family will find something for themselves.

However, the real strength of Cool Cafe is not only food or coffee. It's done by real hosts, for whom the guest is not a necessary part of the job but a priority number one. They're watching, they're there, and you don't have to hunt for someone to see you. That's what makes this place more of a breakfast place.

You can come in with a dog, the place is animal-friendly and has a terrace. Moreover, it does not exist only in a few busy weeks of the summer season: it is open in winter-summer, which in Fonyód alone is a serious argument. In summer, it is a good starting point for a beach day and in winter one of the few safe places where the city does not appear to be completely asleep.

That's not necessarily why we'd travel across the country. But if you're in Fonyód and you want a good breakfast, a nice coffee and a normal, attentive service, we will be sure to send you here.
