Our opinion

If you're looking for the real, busy beach atmosphere in Fonyód, this is easy to find. Panorama - its maiden name Sándorvány - is the central, paying beach of Fonyód. In the summer, something really happens: trains arrive and start, boats come in, the pier is full, children are running around the water playground, and Badacsony rises in the background. It would be difficult to artificially produce a more bozapest situation.

The beach is only a few steps from the central railway and bus station. You can get to the entrance through an obstacle-free tunnel from the station, so it's virtually impossible to miss by arriving on a train. The ship's station is also right next to it, so the beach can be easily connected with a boat trip to Badacsony or an evening pier. The Lake Balaton bicycle road is also passing by the beach.

The Panorama can accommodate around 2,000 guests, so it is not a hidden little bathroom, but a normal city beach with services. The beach stretches for nearly 200 metres, in several places with sandy coves and slowly deepening water. For families with small children, it is a particularly good choice: in the shallow parts, the smaller ones can get to know Balaton more safely and on land there are two sandy playground, water playground and Midi Show Park designed for people under 10 years old.

The family-friendly marker here doesn't mean a single faded slide. There is a pirate boat-water game, jungle club, several sports courts, outdoor gym, ping pong and tequila table, sandy football field, as well as two floating beach volleyball tracks. Sup, kayak, dragon boat and surfski are available. If you can read a whole beach day without moving, of course you can read it, but children will probably not choose this way of life.

For couples, it is also a good place, especially if easy access to the beach is important, sun and panoramic view of Badacsony. There are smaller sun islands in the water, and there is a balcony bed on the beach. The latter is comfortable, but not the cheapest type of Fonyód holiday: it costs 7000 HUF a day in 2026.

The beach is unimpeded. There is also an automatic entrance gate, an accessible bathroom and locker room, a Braille map and a special beach wheelchair for access to water. There's a baby-mama room, outdoor shower, bicycle storage and two safe deposit boxes with 32 compartments each. From mid-June to the end of August, lifeboats also take care of bathing facilities. The water's official qualification is excellent.

You can find a buffet in the beach area, but the real selection is just a few steps away, waiting for you at the port line. You can choose between flaming, heck, hamburger, pizza, pancakes, ice cream, coffee and cold drinks, along with full arsenal of souvenir and beach articles. If you left your parasol, your beach slippers, the child's swimsuit or that inflatable crocodile without which obviously nothing would make sense on your vacation in Balaton, there is a good chance you can replace everything here.

Of course, there is a price for the central location: Panorama is popular on summer weekends and in canicula, which means it is busy. The right shaded places run out quickly because there are no large old trees like some of the previous beaches in Fonyód. It is worth arriving early or bringing your own garden umbrella, beach tent. Some parts of the water can be slippery stones, so for those with more sensitive legs no water shoes is a luxury.

It's also accessible by car. Right next to it, there are pay-per-view parking lot and free space is also available in the wider area; there are about 500 seats. However, this does not mean automatic parking in front of the entrance at peak time. If you can, come by train or bike - there are few beach in Lake Balaton that is so easy to reach by public transport.

Panorama is not a beach for quiet retreat. There's Huska or one of the smaller beaches in Fonyód. Come here if you like to have everything at hand: station, boat, food, drink, playground, sport and real summer bustle.

This is the central beach of Fonyód. You don't have to look for it, you can't miss it, and you can spend a full day here without much preparation.
