Our opinion

Small coastline, slow-deepening water and a much calmer atmosphere than on the central beaches of Fonyód. The Husky doesn't want to look like more than just a lovable local beach. And that's what makes it work so well.

You'll find it in the lower-ground, at the end of Jenő Huszka Street, away from the city center's summer bustle. You don't have to pick another program every five minutes, and you don't feel like you should have prepared a family plan in advance for the beach. You put the towel down, you go in the water, and then you come out. Sometimes that's enough.

The beach has a green area of approximately 1400 square metres and an open waterfront of about 50 to 60 meters. There are trees that give shadows, but on a hot, crowded day, the best places of course will soon find their way here. When you come all day with a baby, a garden umbrella or a beach tent is not a waste of caution.

The water is slowly deepening, the bottom is mostly sandy-mud and on the beach there is also a small bay for children. This makes this place especially for families: the smaller ones can swim in the shallow part, while adults don't have to watch the sudden deepening water every second. The child-friendly marker, of course, does not replace custody. It just makes the day in Balaton a little more peaceful.

The 20th is not a wild, forgotten shore where you have to bring everything you need with you. There is a playground, buffet, bathroom, locker room, bicycle storage and first aid during the season. So you get everything you need for a proper beach, only on a smaller, more human scale. You don't have to pack your lunch from home because of the buffet, but you can still have a classic cooler and a blanket Balaton day.

Water quality is not only praised for the sake of atmosphere: in 2026, the bathing water on Huszka Street is still "excellent 'with an annual rating in the official public health register. So this small, slightly secluded beach is very serious in that respect.

Use is free. Seasonal services typically operate from mid-June to late August between 9: 00 and 19: 00 a day. Parking is free of charge in the area, but there are only room for about 20-25 cars directly at the beach. So this summer weekend, it's worth arriving early. The railway station is approximately 400 metres away, and it is easily accessible from the road to Balaton, so it can be seen by bicycle.

What we don't have is a huge water theme park, an endless range of restaurants and continuous animation. If you're looking for a whole day's beach empire, a lot of services and a lot of bigger stuff, one of the central beaches will probably be a better choice. But if you take a swim with the kids, you can read in the grass, or you just want to avoid the most dense part of summer, Huska will give you exactly what he promises.

With a dog, however, do not choose: for them Fonyód maintains a large swimming area with a large dog, where farmers and dogs can go into the water together.

Huszka is not the loudest, biggest or most photographed beach in Fonyód. He probably doesn't want to be. It's more like a place where people in the neighborhood jump for a quick bath, and families come back because it's just nice to be there.

There's no big way to figure it out. Balaton, grass, some shade and peace.

That's enough.
