Our opinion

The Kayak-Kenu Point in Fonyód is located directly on the waterfront at the foot of the typical double hill of the city. It was built for a water tourist stop, which means it's not just good to watch the beach how well others row. On the base you can find food, canoes, SUPs and other water equipment, so you can finally get to know Balaton not only at cross between a beach staircase and a buojasor.

As a start, the short, near-shore test is the right direction. The shallow southern shore of Lake Balaton seems friendly, but the wind changes the character of water quickly and the coast always looks further away backwards. Get a briefing, pick the right tools for your skills and numbers, wear a life jacket, and tell me where you're going. With a child, it is particularly important that the safety advice of the provider be stronger than family confidence.

The point can be very interesting from spring to autumn, but the specific rental, security, opening and access of tools can also vary within season. Check the operator's update before departure and make a call on weather day. In case of strong winds, storm signals or waves, accept if the answer to that day is no. A missed row is easier to redesign than a water police program.

The advantage of this place is its environment. Near the city beach, the port and the center, on the other side of the railway there are parking facilities. A shorter row can be connected to a beach or shore walk, but for a more serious water drink you need a separate plan, a suitable company and a weather reserve. If you just want to try SUP with a dog, look at the SUP base next to the dog's bathroom; if you're thinking of kayak or canoe, this is the obvious first address in Fonyód.
