In Fonyód, you do not have to drive or organize a full-day expedition. Sipos Hill and Castle Mountain are part of the city, yet with a few streets above the shore you will get forest paths, more steep captors, silence and two-way panorama. In the northern direction, Lake Balaton and the mountains of witnesses, in the south direction the Nagberik show themselves; from this mountain in Fonyód there are several simple points of view.
There are several kinds of circles that can be assembled. A shorter route of approximately 4.5-5 km can be reached in about two hours if you do not hurry and collect a level of about 150 metres. The length of 6-7 km, depending on the route and view, can be asked for two and a half to four hours. The numbers are not alpine-scale, but short, steep climbers in summer heat quickly restore self-confidence.
Part of the route is on asphalt street, and part of it is on a dirt road and a forest path. Normal soles of shoes, drinking water and charged phone are recommended, and after rain expect mud and slippery leaves. Paintings and routes may change, so use a fresh hiking application or downloaded trail for longer rounds. The local chart sometimes comes from everyone knowing where it is - don't be ashamed to check the map.
The opening of the lookout is a separate question from the entrance to the mountain. The Sipos- and Castle-mountain lookout can be closed during the winter period, while the forest road and several panoramic points can continue to be enjoyed. Before you go check the city's official information, and don't stick to the tower in a strong wind. It can be a good program with a dog on a leash, but take separate water and check the fur after the forest stage. The best time is spring, fall or a clean winter day; you should leave early in summer because at noon the mountain is not romantic but steep.
