What kind of creatures are hiding in Lake Balaton? Why is it important to protect our lakes and what can we do so that our natural values can be enjoyed by the next generations? On the occasion of World Lakes Day, there is a happy, playful and informative afternoon waiting for families on the Panorama beach in Fonyód.

At the event starting on Thursday, August 27th, 2026 at 16 o'clock, Balaton and the living world of the lakes will be at the centre of attention. The interested people can learn more about the natural values, functioning and protection of the lake in educational lectures and interactive workshops.

Children are expected to have craft jobs, painting, playing quizzes and other interesting things. With the help of a microscope, you can observe very closely the small, barely visible details of the Lake Balaton wildlife. The program therefore calls not only for entertainment but also for a real discovery of the smaller and curious adults.

One of the most special parts of the afternoon will be the dance of joy at Lake Balaton, to which anyone can join. The shared experience is made complete by a waterfront picnic in the pleasant surroundings of the Panorama beach.

The message of the event is simple, but it is important: the value of our waters is shared and therefore their protection is also a common responsibility. The World Day of the Lakes is a good opportunity to come closer to Lake Balaton with playful, experiences and personal meetings.

Visiting the event is free of charge.
