Two music tracks from Fonyód meet on September 10th at the Szaploncay Promenade. M Serenade At the concert Tamás Schweitzer violinist and Hard Butt Piano Artist enter the audience on the closing night of the Music Sunsets' 2026 series.

The venue and the time itself promise a special atmosphere: the concert starts at 19: 00, when Fonyód shows its quieter face after summer's bustle, while the sight of Lake Balaton and the other side gives natural background to music from Szaploncay. This evening, however, is not just a beautiful panoramic outdoor concert. There are two musicians whose history is personally linked to the city and its music education.

Two former students from Fonyód return

The Music School in Fonyód counts both Tamás Schweitzer and Szembor Hard among the former students of the music career. For this reason, the concert has a rare additional meaning: the audience can not only hear two guest artists but also see another stage in two music stories starting from Fonyód.

The local connection of Tamás Schweitzer has a family musical heritage. His mother, Jolán Schweitzer - Aunt Joli - is known as the piano teacher by many students in Fonyód. The effect of the workshop he represented was also visible on the track of Zombor Harkör: Zsombor in 2018, as a music school in Fonyód and as a student of Jolán Schweitzer, he received a prize at the piano meeting in Veszprém county.

That's exactly what makes September night more than a roll call. On the stage there are two separate generations and two instruments, and behind them there is the same local medium: teachers, rehearsals, student concerts and long work, from which, over time, an artistic career can be created.

Tamás Schweitzer - the sound of the violin

At the concert, Tamás Schweitzer acts as a violinist. The classical pair of violin and piano is particularly suitable for both melody, entourage and real music dialogue. One instrument can take over, transmit or counterpoint the other's idea; and the audience can closely follow how two separate words will be shared.

The organisers have not provided a detailed programme in advance, so it would not be fair to promise composers or concrete pieces. The title, however, gives direction: the serenade is traditionally a direct, evening-character music, which is particularly suited to the open space of the promenade and to the Lake Balaton applet.

Hard Button - young pianist with serious results

The hard Zombor track shows how far the work started at Fonyód Music School can lead. The young pianist has also demonstrated international competition in addition to domestic actions: in 2023 he moved on to the live round of Città di Minerbio International Piano Competition in Bologna and won a concert. Since then, he has been involved in independent piano events as well as the music-education programs of Ádám Szösz.

Talent in itself is a spectacular word, but on stage the discipline behind it becomes heard. In the case of a young artist, it is particularly exciting when an audience can no longer only learn about a promise, but rather an evolving, independent musical personality. The concert in Fonyód offers a rare and close opportunity.

Why is it worth being there?

Serenade can also be a good choice for those who regularly attend classical music concerts and for those who stop because of the location, sunset or local story. The outdoor environment offers a more soluble connection with music, while the violin-piano pair is rich enough to give a full concert to the attentive student.

For locals, it is a special pleasure to see where two former music schools in Fonyód have come from. And for the younger students and their families, perhaps this evening will show that weekly lessons, home practice and first small actions can once become a true artistic way.
