There is a moment on a vacation in Balaton when you no longer want another music terrace, a loud concert or a beach buffet. Just a cooler church interior, some beautiful tunes and an evening after which he will go home a little quieter. This is exactly what Musica Sancta's summer concert offers.

The group's performance in Fonyód in August is not a newly invented tourist program, but a local tradition that has evolved over many years. The Musica Sancta and its leader, Mary Koschler Keszthely has been returning to the Parish Church of the Blessed Lady for decades. The selection also contains a personal story: the singer's family has an old Fonyód bond, spent every summer in town since childhood. As a professional singer, he was a member of the National Singing Board and later dreamed a concert at the church in Fonyód because he considered it to be one of the most beautiful and musical sacral spaces in Balaton.

The 2026 concert shows several music periods. From baroque compositions to the music of today's time, selected works will be spoken on organ, violin and vocals, and guests will join the evening. This will not be the concert of a single composer or strictly defined era, but rather roaming the music literature: meeting different ages, moods and musical worlds in the same special space.

In the previous set of Musica Sancta in Fonyód, two singers, two violinists and an organist played together. One of the very loveable features of their concerts is that works are not simply coming in succession: the audience will also receive a brief introduction to the plays. So no one who doesn't know the years and authors of music history must feel lost. By the time a work goes on, we know what we hear, what age it comes from and what to pay particular attention to.

All of this can be heard in one of the most beautiful buildings in Fonyód. The chapel originally raised in 1902 won its form today in the 1920s; in its Italian mood, the elements of secession and art deco can also be discovered. In addition, there is a special view of Lake Balaton from the church on the high beach, which is why it is worth reaching a little earlier before the concert. The sunset probably doesn't have to be counted separately for the show, but it will still belong to the evening.

The former Musica Sancta concerts filled the church, so it is worth arriving in time for sure and good places. Festive clothing is not necessary, serious music pre-training is even less. This evening is also for those who regularly go to the concert, and for those who just want to get out of the usual noise of the summer in Balaton.
