Our opinion

Judit's Guest House is not a design hotel, and it doesn't even try to look like one. The top floor of a real family house in Fonyód, with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and terraces. It's not a catalogue-crafted entertainer, it's a small home where four can fit comfortably. There's something very comforting about it: you arrive, you pack up, you open the window, and in about five minutes, you move around like you're not there for the first time.

But of course, in this case, we are also suspected to be biased. Let the guests talk.

Judit's Guest House on Booking currently stands at 9.6 points based on 30 verified evaluations. Other booking sites also show results between 9,6 and 9,7. One of the guests perfectly summarized the essence of this place: "It was not overcomplicated, it was too edgy." It was exactly what they needed. The same guest described Aunt Judit as direct and friendly, but not intrusive.

And we couldn't put it any more accurately than that.

Aunt Judit lives downstairs. If you have a question, it will help; if you talk to him, he'll have a story; and if you just go on holiday, he won't knock every five minutes to make sure everything's okay. One of the hardest parts of good hospitality is knowing when you're needed, and when you do the most by leaving the guest alone.

The house has garden, barbecue facilities, ping-pong table and playground. The children have a place to stay, the adults can sit on the terrace and the dog is not waiting for the next walk in a fourth floor corridor. The area is quiet, the beach at Lake Balaton is about a quarter of an hour on foot and the market in Fonyód is also close. You can get in with a dog.

The apartment is located upstairs and can only be reached by stairs. That's something you should know in advance. As well as the fact that this is not an impersonal, reception accommodation: the host lives in the same house only on another level. If you're looking for a completely sterile hotel anonymity, you'll probably feel comfortable somewhere else. However, it is difficult for anyone who wants to experience a few days of living in a real home in Fonyód to offer a more credible place.

Not design, but home. Not distance, but attention. It's not a continuous service, it's a host who's there when you need him.

And yes, this is really my birth home. I may be biased, but luckily I didn't give you the 9.6 guest review.
